Jay R. Lund

Professor and Director
Jay is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is on the editorial board of several water resources publications, has been a member of the advisory Committee for the 1998 and 2005 California Water Plan Updates, and has served as Convenor of the California Water and Environment Modeling Forum (CWEMF) and President of the Universities Council on Water Resources (UCOWR), and the Delta Independent Science Board.

Samual Sandoval Solis

Assistant Professor
Samuel is an assistant professor and cooperative extension specialist. His expertise is in water resources planning and management. During decision making process, Samuel is the person working between the scientists, engineers, environmentalists, system operators and decision makers; he integrates ideas into policies and quantifies benefits and drawbacks. Samuel shares his expertise and passion for quantitative water planning with students through his course entitled Water, Science and Management (ESM-121) in which he demonstrates to student tools and methods to design sustainable water resources systems.

Sarah Yarnell

Senior Researcher
Sarah is an Associate Project Scientist at the Center for Watershed Sciences. Her studies focus on integrating the traditional fields of hydrology, ecology and geomorphology in the river environment. She is currently conducting research that applies understanding of river ecosystem processes to managed systems in the Sierra Nevada, with a focus on the development and maintenance of riverine habitat under current and future climate conditions.

Chris Bowman

Communications Director
Chris is the Communications Director at the UC Davis Center for Watershed Sciences, a multidisciplinary research group engaged in solving California’s complex water problems.
He is one of the nation’s most experienced environmental journalists, having worked all sides of the beat in his 24 years as a senior writer at The Sacramento Bee. Several of his investigative stories led to state and federal environmental reforms.

Kaveh Madani

Visiting Professor

Kaveh Madani is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Management at Imperial College, London.  He has a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Davis, Master of Water Resources from the Lund University and B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Tabriz, and has done his post-doctoral research in Environmental Economics and Policy at the Water Science and Policy Center at the University of California, Riverside.
